Today we started discussing states and energy of simple systems (read Chap 1 of KK). The main goal: know how to enumerate the number of states (ie "multiplicity") for a given energy level.
Important examples we discussed: particles in a box (1D & 2D; 3D is given in text book); binary spin model (N spins in a magnetic field B).
